The institute became fully operational in 2005. It functions under the administrative control of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (KP-TEVTA). It is situated on Fort Road in Takht Bhai, roughly 17 kilometers northwest of Mardan city. The campus is located right next to the famous UNESCO World Heritage site, the Takht Bhai Buddhist Remains.
